The Adams administration will be reduce the number of lanes on McGuinness Boulevard in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, reversing a decision made last month.
The city Department of Transportation announced Wednesday it will transform the four-lane roadway into two lanes of traffic and one lane of parking in each direction. The parked cars will then serve as barriers for bike lanes.
It’s a move that both advocates and lawmakers have been pushing the Adams administration to adopt. They hope the changes will reduce traffic accidents along the road.
State Assemblywoman Emily Gallagher, who represents the neighborhoods of Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to discuss more.
Her district also spans McGuiness Boulevard.
