Edward Caban served as NYPD Commissioner for 14 months before formally resigning Thursday morning.
He took over the position after Keechant Sewell, the first commissioner under Mayor Adams’ administration, stepped down without explanation last June.
Last week’s search warrants by federal investigators had initially sparked calls for Caban to step down.
Tiffany Cabán, who represents the Queens neighborhoods of Astoria, Woodside and East Elmhurst, sat down with Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to talk about the historic resignation and what this says about city government right now.
“Not just being a personal failure, but a leadership failure and systemic failure,” Cabán said. “There can absolutely be guardrails.”
