The Department of Sanitation last week encouraged owners of single-family homes and some residential buildings to purchase the city’s new official trash can.
It comes as the department raises awareness about the new trash rules taking effect this November. One to nine residential units will be required to use secure containers to put out trash.
The directive is in an effort to deter rats and containerize all residential trash in the city.
Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to talk about the new rules.
