For the first time in months, some public libraries will be open once again for seven-day service.

Just two weeks ago, Mayor Eric Adams and the City Council announced the restoration of more than $58 million in funding for city libraries.

The mayor cut funding for the city’s three library systems earlier this year, which eliminated vital programs, paused re-openings for renovated branches and eliminated Sunday service across the city.

But with the funding restored, the Queens Public Library is able to finish some projects put on hold. Including renovations at the Broadway, Hillcrest and Bay Terrace branches, which can now open by the end of the summer.

Manhattan Councilmember Carlina Rivera, the chair of the committee on Cultural Affairs, Libraries and International Intergroup Relations, and Dennis Walcott, the president and CEO for the Queens Public Library, joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Friday to discuss more.

Rivera represents the neighborhoods of East Village, Gramercy Park and the Lower East Side.
