When New Yorkers go to the polls this November, they were supposed to vote on a state constitutional amendment that would codify abortion rights and expand anti-discrimination protections.
But last week, an upstate judge threw the proposal off the ballot, arguing state lawmakers didn’t follow proper procedure when they initially advanced the measure.
State Attorney General Letitia James is now appealing that decision, and advocates are hopeful it will be reversed.
Sasha Ahuja, the campaign director for New Yorkers for Equal Rights, a coalition leading the effort to get the amendment passed, joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to discuss more.
