Schools Chancellor David Banks spoke before a congressional panel Wednesday on antisemitism in the city school system.

For several hours, the leaders of the three largest public school systems in America — including New York City, Berkeley in California and Montgomery County in Maryland — answered questions from members of the House Education and Workforce Subcommittee.

Banks fielded questions about instances of antisemitism, and how his administration handles faculty that violate policies.

This comes amid a wave of pro-Palestinian student protests on college campuses across the country.

Banks joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to discuss more.

“I was not going to allow any of the congressmen or women there to just make political hay of the work that we’re doing in New York City. And everyone going into it told me, ‘It’s just theater,’” he said. “And it’s so unfortunate when you think about it ‘cause these issues with antisemitism and Islamophobia hate are real and they deserve real leadership and real responses.”
