A Bronx nonprofit is launching a new peer-to-peer education effort after receiving a new $2 million grant.

The funding is from Yield Giving, a foundation established by philanthropist Mackenzie Scott, who launched a program to award new resources to several community-focused organizations.

Health People is a small group that focuses on helping prevent and manage chronic illnesses including diabetes and asthma, which disproportionately impact poor communities of color.

The nonprofit plans to use the grant to expand peer-to-peer education by developing a community training institute.

Chris Norwood, the founder and executive director of Health People, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to talk about the new funding, and what she hopes to get out of the state budget.
