Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced he would resign once a transitional presidential council is created.
It comes as he faced international pressure to step down, with an uptick in gang violence in recent weeks.
The announcement was made just hours after Caribbean leaders and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met in Jamaica to discuss a path forward for Haiti.
Monique Clesca, a journalist and a Haitian pro-democracy and social justice advocate, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” from Port-au-Prince on Tuesday night to discuss the situation on the ground.
