The city is partnering with Northwell Health to launch a new health care career-focused public high school in Woodside, Queens.

The new Northwell School of Health Sciences will be designed to prepare students to go into nursing, diagnostic medicine, physical therapy or behavioral health at Northwell. Bloomberg Philanthropies is investing $250 million to create 10 health care-focused high schools across the country.

Howard Wolfson, who leads the education program at Bloomberg Philanthropies and Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, both joined Errol Louis on "Inside City Hall" Thursday to talk about the new school and the future of education and health in the city.

"We need employers to step up to the table as Northwell has, identify what kinds of jobs are open and begin to train kids for those jobs," Wolfson said.
