Gov. Kathy Hochul’s $233 billion spending plan is a roughly $6 billion increase from her proposed budget last year.
The plan includes new spending on education, health care and the ongoing influx of migrants.
Hochul promised to not impose any new taxes on New Yorkers to help cover the tab.
She also announced the state was able to close a $4.3 billion gap in the upcoming fiscal year due to higher-than-anticipated tax collections.
Blake Washington, the state’s budget director, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to further break down the proposal and talk more about the state’s financial picture.
