Gov. Kathy Hochul outlined her vision for the future of artificial intelligence in New York as part of her State of the State address.
This includes the creation of Empire A.I., a consortium of seven of New York’s leading research institutions tasked with developing an artificial intelligence computing center.
She also said her state’s Office of Information Technology Services would issue a new policy to govern how state actors use A.I.
Julie Samuels, the president and executive director of Tech:NYC, a nonprofit advocating for the city’s technology industry, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to talk more about what Hochul’s proposals mean for the industry.
“What the government is doing is putting money where its mouth is and helping support the universities, the research institutions, the nonprofit sector, so that they too can participate in the research, the development of these A.I. tools,” Samuels said.
