During her State of the State address, Gov. Kathy Hochul outlined a new office that will be led by Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado.
The Office of Service and Civic Engagement looks to connect more New Yorkers, and particularly young New Yorkers, to community service opportunities.
The governor said the office’s first initiative includes a partnership between SUNY and CUNY schools and the Empire State Service Program.
Together, they will provide both paid and volunteer work opportunities to college students to fill service needs wherever they may be: nursing homes, schools, parks, farms and cities.
Delgado joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss more.
