Mayor Eric Adams recently filed a lawsuit against several Texas charter bus companies for dropping off thousands of migrants in the city.

The suit is based on a New York law that makes it illegal to bring “a needy person from out of the state into this state for the purpose of making him a public charge.”

The Adams administration is seeking at least $708 million in migrant-related costs, it says the city has incurred since spring of 2022.
