The mounting death toll in Gaza has led to growing calls across the United States and the world for a ceasefire.

Israel has so far refused any ceasefire agreement unless Hamas releases hostages.

The conflict has created a deep division within the Democratic party over the role the U.S. should play. Some have called for staunch support of Israel, while others say the U.S. is fueling a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, who represents neighborhoods in Queens, including Astoria and Ditmars-Steinway, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to talk about the party rift.

The Queens Democrat has publicly called for a ceasefire and has attended a number of pro-Palestinian rallies, including one that ended in his arrest.
