A new book by award-winning journalist and author Naomi Klein explores her experience getting confused with another Naomi online.
The other Naomi, Naomi Wolf, gained prominence as a feminist intellectual turned anti-vaxxer, which is when Klein decided to take a deep dive into Wolf’s life.
Klein wrote about what she discovered in her book, "Doppelganger: A Trip into the Mirror World," published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
The book is part memoir and part analysis of how online confusion and artificial intelligence can blur the lines of reality.
She also explores how people create their own doppelgangers online and how this impacts everything from politics to the economy.
Naomi Klein joined host Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to talk more about her experience writing the book.
“I really just used my own doppelganger as a way into understanding this topsy-turvy time that we’re in,” Klein said. “To explore the ways that we make these doubles of ourselves, and other people make doubles of us online and A.I. and deepfakes, but also understanding conspiracy culture.”
