The House Ethics Committee released its findings on Rep. George Santos Thursday, which was pursued by an announcement from Santos that he won’t seek reelection.
As part of the report, the committee found substantial evidence that Santos used campaign funds for personal purposes, committed ethics violations in his financial disclosure statements to the House and more.
Daniel Weiner, director of the Brennan Center’s Elections and Government Program and previously served as senior counsel at the Federal Election Commission, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to talk about the trouble Santos faces.
“The report mostly confirmed what a lot of people already suspected about Representative Santos,” Weiner said. “But it has certainly added new details and none of them are favorable to him.”
