On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected calls for a ceasefire, as the country expands its ground offensive into Gaza.

At the same time, Israel continues to limit humanitarian aid and access to power and even cell service in Gaza.

With only 33 aid trucks allowed to cross Sunday, humanitarian organizations are warning that resources are running out for thousands of civilians.

Hospitals are also struggling with both the lack of power and repeated warnings from the Israeli military to evacuate or risk facing airstrikes.

Tommaso Della Longa, a spokesperson for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent society, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Monday to talk more about the situation on the ground in Gaza.

“Civilians, civilian infrastructure, health care facilities, health care workers must be protected by all the parties in the conflict,” Della Longa said. “This is exactly what we’re asking — since the beginning of the hostilities in the last two weeks is to respect civilians, to respect health care workers, and to give us a safe space to operate.”
