Mayor Adams responded to criticisms Tuesday regarding a migrant shelter that was shut down Monday due to fire safety concerns.
It was the latest in a string of shelters that have received vacate orders from FDNY.
This comes as officials announced an increase in the number of notices issued to migrants, asking them to either reapply for shelter after reaching their shelter limit or leave the city permanently.
Former City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who serves as the president and CEO of the nonprofit Win, and Bishop Matthew Heyd of the Episcopal Diocese of New York joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to talk more about the city’s struggle to house all migrants and Mayor Adams’ comments on the matter.
“Why are we saying there’s no more room, when it’s just numerically and factually just not true?” Quinn asked.
When asked what the city can do moving forward to help migrants, Bishop Matthew Heyd said, “We have to try and try together. No one can do this by themselves, including the city government. We want to work with them.”
