A State Appeals Court has denied former President Donald Trump’s request to delay a civil fraud trial in which a judge found he had committed fraud in building his real estate empire.
As punishment, the order issued on Tuesday rescinds Trump’s business licenses, which are necessary for his companies to operate in New York.
The case was brought by State Attorney General Letitia James and alleges that Trump and his company massively overvalued his assets sometimes by as much as 2,300%.
With the appeal formerly rejected, the case could start as soon as Monday.
David Cay Johnston, a Trump financial expert and the author of “It’s Even Worse Than You Think: What the Trump Administration Is Doing to America,” joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Thursday to discuss more.
