Mayor Eric Adams is in Israel this week to meet with faith leaders and top politicians.
Adams also got the chance to shake hands with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who currently faces criticism for his support of limiting the power of the courts in Israel.
Peter Beinart, a professor at the Newmark School of Journalism at the City University of New York and an editor-at-large of the progressive magazine “Jewish Currents,” joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to talk more about the political implications of Adams’ trip.
“This is good domestic politics in New York. It has been for a very long time, just like if you went to Italy or went to Ireland or a whole bunch of other places,” Beinart said. “The problem is… is that Ireland and Italy are not considered apartheid states by the world’s most prominent human rights organizations and the human rights organizations of their own countries. Israel is.”
