Ecuador is under a state of emergency after presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio was assassinated Wednesday night.

The shooting comes a little more than a week before Ecuadorians get ready to cast their ballots.

Authorities say one suspect is dead and six others were arrested in connection with the assassination.

City Council Member Francisco Moya, who is Ecuadorian-American, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday night to discuss the fallout.

Moya’s district includes all or parts of East Elmhurst, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights and Corona in Queens.
