Primaries in the five boroughs are a month away, and early voting begins Saturday, June 17.

The city's Campaign Finance Board released a sprawling report which analyzed last year's elections and voter turnout around the five boroughs. It was a unique year in which the primary elections were split. There were also a series of special elections, numerous ballot proposals and a complicated redistricting process.

Among its recommendations to improve turnout and expand voting access, the Campaign Finance Board suggests aligning local elections with state and federal elections, when turnout is typically higher.

Amanda Melillo, the deputy director of public affairs at the New York City Campaign Finance Board, joined Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday night to break down the report’s findings and recommendations.
