Shop owners traveled to the state capitol on Tuesday to push for more public safety measures and changes to bail laws.
This comes as state lawmakers remain in Albany for budget negotiations, as the April 1 deadline approaches.
Negotiations officially kicked off Monday when lawmakers met for the first session of the 2023 General Budget Conference Committee.
State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins was there, and she joined Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday night to talk about the issues of housing, bail reform and taxes.
One proposal Gov. Kathy Hochul is pushing back against is the raising of taxes on more wealthy New Yorkers.
“We are looking at letting those who are doing extremely well to just give a little bit more,” Stewart-Cousins said. “There are needs that we can address in the long-term that will be helpful to all New Yorkers.”
