State lawmakers continue to push back on Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams' housing proposals.
Maria Torres-Springer, deputy mayor for economic and workforce development, and Jessica Katz, the City's chief housing officer, joined Errol Louis on "Inside City Hall" Friday to discuss Adams' housing agenda and address the opposition.
RuthAnne Visnauskas, the commissioner and CEO of New York State Homes and Community Renewal, the agency in charge of overseeing Hochul's housing plans, joined "Inside City Hall" Thursday, concluding all sides agree New York needs more housing, as the affordability crisis increases.
Where new homes will be built in the state remains unclear.
Lawmakers in Albany didn't include in their budget proposals a plan to extend the 421-a tax break for developers.
Yet they did embrace the "Good Cause Eviction" rules, which limits rent increases and makes landlords define reasons for refusing lease renewals.
