Gov. Kathy Hochul reiterated her plans to build 800,000 new homes over the next 10 years in her budget address Wednesday.
This announcement comes as the state and city face an affordability crisis, which is pushing New Yorkers out of the state.
Nathan Gusdorf, executive director of Fiscal Policy Institute, joined Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to discuss the governor’s housing plan and how it will impact New Yorkers.
A recent study by the Fiscal Policy Institute found that New Yorkers who leave the five boroughs save on average around 34% in housing cost and 19% on rent.
