The 118th Congress has faced an unprecedented start to its new term. The House stands adjourned until noon on Wednesday after Republican lawmakers remained divided over who will be the next speaker. Rep. Kevin McCarthy suffered a historic defeat in his bid to lead his party in the House.

On the other side of the aisle, Democrats unanimously rallied behind their new minority leader, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who represents parts of the Bronx and Westchester County, joined Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday night to discuss the state of the House of Representatives.

"This is what we try to warn the American people about. The Republicans do not care about governing. They do not care about leadership. They do not care about moving away from [Donald] Trump and moving the country in the right direction," Bowman said.
