After 18 years of representing New York's 23rd Senate District, state Senator Diane Savino is announcing her retirement. She joined Errol Louis on "Inside City Hall" Monday to discuss her career and what she plans to do next: join Mayor Eric Adams' administration in 2023.
Since being elected in 2004, she has passed major labor legislation and was a primary force behind the legalization of marijuana.
Her legacy in Albany is also marked by her role in forming the Independent Democratic Conference, which worked with state Republicans to control majority rule in the State Senate.
