State Senator Jessica Ramos, who represents parts of Queens, joined Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” on Thursday to talk about the state’s budget negotiations.

Just hours before the deadline, state lawmakers went home without reaching an agreement. But they are expected to reconvene over the weekend. Gov. Kathy Hochul's proposal to modify the state's bail laws is still one of the main sticking points.

Ramos explained why she’s pushing back against the governor’s criminal justice plan. She also talked about a bill she’s sponsoring that would empower judges to offer court-mandated treatment to those with mental health issues, as one of the alternatives to incarceration.
