Council Member Chi Ossé joined Errol Louis to explain why he’s speaking out against Mayor Eric Adams’ public safety plan.
During a council hearing on Wednesday, he challenged the top brass of the NYPD regarding the redeployment of special neighborhood policing units meant to curb gun violence. Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell defended the strategy, saying that in the first two weeks on the streets, the teams have made 84 arrests, but only 20 of those have been for gun possession.
