Councilwoman Inna Vernikov was born in Ukraine and represents a large population of Ukrainian and Russian-Americans in Brooklyn neighborhoods of Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay. Vernikov spoke out against the Russian invasion of her home country and condemned President Putin.
