NEW YORK — Before Kathy Hochul became lieutenant governor, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's number two person was Robert Duffy, who was elected along with Cuomo in 2010.

During his tenure, the former mayor of Rochester was known as the "cheerleader-in-chief," not only for promoting the state, but also for praising Cuomo.

Duffy, who now serves as the president of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, spoke with NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” on Thursday evening to react to discuss:

  • Why he never publicly called for the governor to resign
  • If he thinks impeachment proceedings against Cuomo should continue now that he will resign
  • His decision to leave his post as mayor of Rochester to become lieutenant governor
  • What does the Rochester economy in general, and local businesses, in particular need from Albany
  • If he wishes he stayed in the job for six more years, given that his successor as lieutenant governor will now be the governor
