A new book is delving into the years-long effort of residents living in Stuyvesant Town, who fought to keep the massive east side Manhattan housing complex affordable for its 30,000 tenants after it was sold in 2006.
Affordable housing is one of the top problems that affects New Yorkers from all boroughs, and is one of the issues the next mayor will have to address.
The title of the book is "Saving Stuyvesant Town," published by Three Hills.
The author of the book is former City Councilman Dan Garodnick, who is a longtime Stuy Town resident. He is currently the president and CEO of the Riverside Park Conservancy.
Garodnick joined anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” on Thursday to talk about what this fight meant for the residents of the Manhattan housing complex.
