After years of being closed, Ley Creek Transfer Station in the town of Salina is coming down, paving the way for a new facility to open in 2028.
The long-term plans include a larger transfer station and a separate building that will manage materials like hazardous waste, electronics and paint.
"This transfer station is something that is convenient for our community," Salina Town Supervisor Nick Paro said. "A lot of the folks were able to utilize it in the past, and we're excited that they'll be able to utilize it in the future."
