Speaker Heastie said that no matter what the legislature addresses, he plans to have everything family first.

He emphasized the importance of advocating for the everyday working New Yorker and also talked about housing and the climate crisis.

He discussed the reparations legislation and how he plans to help push forward health care. Heastie said that although some things may pass in the State Senate, it is not always guaranteed to pass in the Assembly.
