Two experts joined "In Focus" to explain gene editing therapy for sickle cell disease.
Cassandra Dobson and Dr. Thomas Moulton explained how CRISPR gene editing works and shared the cost of the treatment. CRISPR stands for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats.
Moulton stressed that this treatment is not a cure for the disease. Moulton also discussed the inequity and disparities sickle cell patients and researchers face.
Dobson shared her own personal experience facing sickle cell disease.
