Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh joined "In Focus" to talk about recent lithium-ion battery fires in the city and how the FDNY is helping spread information to New Yorkers on fire safety.

She discussed her experience in the FDNY and how she became the first female fire commissioner in the city.

The commissioner also discussed how firefighters respond to every emergency, including a recent parking garage collapse.

She praised the department’s efforts for diversity and inclusion, as well.
