Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado discussed the state’s top priorities.
He talked about the city’s inaugural “Unity Summit,” which is working with all New Yorkers to draw attention to hate in the state.
Delgado is the chair of the new Hate and Bias Prevention Unit. He discussed what the regional councils will do to combat the hate.
It comes as Gov. Kathy Hochul announces $25 million to organizations facing hate crimes.
The lieutenant governor also talks about gun violence, as mass shootings in the U.S. are on a record pace in 2023. He called the frequency of these mass shootings a “public safety crisis” and explains what needs to be done both locally and federally.
Delgado discussed his administration’s work to safeguard abortion access and reproductive rights in New York.
He also gave an update on Hochul’s housing compact, which was scrapped from the state budget.
