Queens Councilwoman Nantasha Williams joined “In Focus” to discuss this year’s midterm elections.
But first, she explained her new pay transparency law that went into effect this week. It requires New York City employers to disclose a pay range, salary or hourly wage on all job postings.
As the chair of the Committee on Civil and Human Rights, Williams explained what her office is doing to get New Yorkers out to the polls this Election Day and discusses three major ballot proposals on the back of the ballot, including creating a racial equity office and adding a statement of values of the city charter.
Williams said racial justice is a shared responsibility, and for decades, communities of color have been denied access to the full benefits of democracy. She explained what her office is doing to change that.
Williams also explained how New Yorkers can familiarize themselves with the ballot proposals and educate their friends and family before Election Day.
