Jacquelyn Simone, policy director with Coalition for the Homeless, joins 'In Focus' to discuss Mayor Adams’ clearing of homeless encampments throughout the city.
So far, some 300 encampments have been dismantled. She also explains why the coalition is calling his subway outreach program "sickening."
The Coalition for the Homeless is the nation’s oldest advocacy and direct service organization helping homeless individuals and families. They provide food, crisis services, housing and more to around 3,500 people each day.
The organization says some 48,000 people are sleeping in New York City shelters each night. Simone shares her thoughts on what the city needs to do to protect these vulnerable individuals and the solutions outlined in the coalition’s state of the homeless annual report.
The Coalition for the Homeless emergency hotline is 1-888-358-2384.
