ALTADENA, Calif. — As cleanup efforts remain underway for the Altadena area, Muslim Americans in the area face the holy month of Ramadan — where the community gathers, prays and breaks their fast together — without their mosque this year.

Masjid Al-Taqwa was a historic mosque in the Altadena area — and one of thousands of destroyed structures during the Eaton Fire. With Ramadan underway, members kept some of the community together with a new temporary location at the nearby New Horizon Pasadena Islamic School.

An online LaunchGood campaign has reached more than $845,000 in crowdfunding that mosque leaders say will go toward rebuilding efforts.
