LOS ANGELES — About a month after the devastating wildfires in SoCal, organizations and residents continue to step up to help those affected.

Here is how you can help if you can:

Students & educators in need

  • The Library Foundation of LA has started the LA Public Library Palisades Branch Recovery Fund. Donations will help with outreach and support services, emergency relief assistance and free access to WiFi hotspots and computers.
  • The LA Foundation for LA Community Colleges has started a relief fund called LA Strong: Disaster Response Fund. Donations will be used to help students and educators.
  • If you'd like to help Loyola Marymount University students affected by the fires, visit the LMU Wildfires Support website. The university said 305 students are from homes in the impacted fire zones, and at least 14 of these students’ homes have been destroyed.
  • The Santa Monica Community College Disaster Support Fund helps support SMC students, faculty and staff who have been impacted. The fund will help provide temporary housing, food, water, clothing, transportation, medical supplies, school materials and emergency funding to support immediate needs.

Supply donations

  • National Day Laborer Organizing Network/Pasadena Community Job Center: Providing emergency relief for the day laborer community, including temporary shelter, food, water and emergency kits
  • LA County Parks is seeking donations to support Care Camps. Needed items include: toys, stuffies, clothing, jackets and shoes for youth ages 5-17, pajamas and undergarments. They are requesting you email them with a description of your donation along with your phone number and/or email to carecampsdonations@parks.lacounty.gov. They will contact you.
  • The YMCA is currently seeking volunteers and donations:
  • The Salvation Army: Donate goods, including basic items that are always a necessity for disaster survivors. Wildfire survivors most often need masks, bandanas, work gloves and other protective clothing, bottled water and other packaged drinks, boxes, barrels and heavy-duty plastic bags, and cleaning items such as rags, mops, brooms and scrub brushes, among other things.
  • Direct Relief-Helping People Affected by California Wildfires: Direct Relief provides N-95 masks, medicine and other resources to health care agencies and first responders in wildfire-affected communities.

Financial assistance

  • LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund will provide emergency relief for artists and arts workers in all disciplines who have lost residences, studios, archives, artworks or livelihoods or have otherwise been impacted by the devastating Los Angeles fires.
  • The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, also know as CHIRLA, is seeking donations to its iRelief Fund, a cash-assistance program that aims to assit low-income families impacted by the fires who do not qualify for FEMA or other federal disaster relief. Cash donations can be made here. The nonprofit is also accepting water donations, which can be dropped off at CHIRLA's headquarters, located at 2533 West 3rd St. Suite 101 in LA.
  • Common Space Brewery: A nationwide effort has been launched to brew beers called We Love LA. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to nonprofits supporting Angelenos affected by the fires.
  • LA Rams LAFD shirts will be available for sale at the team's official store with all profits from the sales going to support the LAFD Foundation and American Red Cross, according to the team. Game-worn jerseys and select game-used footballs will be auctioned off on NFL Auction with proceeds going to the support American Red Cross, the team said.
  • LA Food Bank: Accepting financial and food donations
  • Screen Actors Guild: To support impacted members of the SAG community, donations can be made to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, which operates a natural disaster relief fund.
  • The Recording Academy and its MusiCares charitable arm launched the LA Fire Relief Effort to support music creators and professionals impacted by the crisis, making a pledge of $1 million to begin fundraising effort. The Recording Academy urges the public to donate to the LA Fire Relief Effort.
