New Yorkers will get one last chance this year to experience Manhattanhenge, a visual phenomenon when the setting sun lines up perfectly with the east-west street grid of Manhattan.

The visual spectacle is expected to occur for the final time this year on Saturday, July 13 at 8:27 p.m. It also occurred on Friday, July 12, but inclement weather prevented widespread viewing.

Traditionally, the best viewing spots are along the city’s east-west thoroughfares:

  • 14th Street
  • 23rd Street
  • 34th Street
  • 42nd Street
  • 57th Street

It is also possible to see Manhattanhenge along the East River at the Tudor City Overpass, near the United Nations Headquarters, and at Hunter's Point South Park in Long Island City, Queens.

Manhattanhenge made its debut this year on Tuesday, May 28, followed by a repeat performance on Wednesday, May 29.

Those interested can look forward to experiencing Manhattanhenge again in 2025 during late May and mid-July. For more information, visit NY1's explainer on Manhattanhenge.
