Singer, actress and activist Sis Thee Doll loves the classic Christmas tunes of the 40s, 50s and 60s. So it’s no surprise that when you hear an original song about a marriage gone wrong with Jack Frost, it may have a familiar ring to it.
It’s one of the songs folks will hear at "SISMAS '23: A Holiday Spectacular." The show features a gospel choir and a seven-piece band for a celebration of all things holiday.
“We can’t even explain what we have in the show, because you are going to walk in here and a Christmas box is just going to open all over you, and it’s going to be a great holiday time, and we are so excited,” Sis Thee Doll said.
SISMAS '23 is just one of the holiday shows at the Mastercard Midnight Theatre, a 150-seat performance venue located at Manhattan West Plaza. It officially opened this past September.
It’s not just music though. How about getting in touch with the spirit world for the holidays?
Psychic medium Christopher Allan stars in a show called “Brunched by an Angel Presents Dim Sum with the Departed.”
Allan says this time of year is the perfect time to connect with the spirits of departed loved ones.
“I look at the holidays for being defined as the family, and the family that you have lost, so I really think it’s a special time of year to be able to share my abilities and my gifts with people,” said Allan, who is from Long Island.
For some more traditional fare, singer Chris Pinnella wraps up a multi-city tour at the theater. The show is called “Chris Pinnella: Christmas in New York City.”
“It’s such an eclectic mix, musically. It’s jazz, it’s pop, it’s rock, it’s tons of different things that are kind of woven into the show, but of course all Christmas, all holiday hits, every single song,” Pinnella, a New Jersey native, said.
