City school students have been on summer break for almost two weeks, prompting a parenting site to help families find activities to occupy children.
The website mommypoppins.com features lists of things to do, including dozens of free activities around New York City for kids.
"Summer is the season of free in New York City," said Jody Mercier, regional editor for mommypoppins.com. "There are so many things to do every day. It is easy to spend a day in the city romping all around the playgrounds and parks without ever spending a dime."
Some activities include walking the High Line, going to Brooklyn Bridge Park and fishing at various Hudson River Park piers.
And of course, the local library is a great spot to learn while school is not in session.
"There is really something for all ages at the library," Mercier said.
