New York City will celebrate Independence Day on Monday with the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular.

This year’s show will be launched over the East River. Here’s what you need to know.

When will the festivities begin?

The fireworks show is expected to run from 9:25 to 9:50 p.m., according to the NYPD.

Those who will not be present for the event can watch the televised special on WNBC-TV, which starts at 8 p.m.

Where can I see the fireworks?

The fireworks will be launched along the East River this year – so the fireworks will be visible at many points with a view of the river across the city.

However, there will be some set public viewing places to watch.

According to the NYPD, in Manhattan, there will be viewing points along elevated sections of the FDR Drive at 23rd Street, 34th Street and 42nd Street. The NYPD also says an ADA viewing location will be available at the FDR southbound lane at 18th Street and Avenue C.

In Brooklyn, according to the NYPD and Macy’s, there will be viewing locations at Transmitter Park, the Newton Barge Playground and Marsha P. Johnson State Park. The NYPD notes that Brooklyn Bridge Park will not be a viewing point this year because of barge placement.

According to the NYPD, the Transmitter Park viewing area is accessible through Greenpoint Avenue to Dead End, the Newton Barge Playground viewing area is accessible at 3 Commercial St., and the Marsha P. Johnson State Park viewing area is accessible at Kent Avenue and North 11th Street.

According to Macy’s, there will be a fireworks viewing location at Gantry State Park in Queens.

A map of viewing locations can be viewed on Macy’s website.

The NYPD says attendees are reminded not to bring large items or alcoholic beverages.
