The phalaenopsis orchid has the potential to grow in glass jar, however, the method doesn’t provide a drainage point for the plant, which is not good for blooming orchids.
Take the orchid out of any glass vase it currently sits in and pop it in a new planter. Clay pots or containers work well for growing most orchids.
The process begins with the plant being removed from its current holder, which should slide out easily. It is important to remove any moss or bark from the bottom of the plant before putting the orchid into a new planter.
Set the flowers in a new pot, but be aware of how deep the plant sits in its new container. You want the plants new roots to sit above the top of the new planter. For example, with a phalaenopsis orchid, it grows new roots around the stem. If the orchid is buried to deep, the flower will suffocate.
Use orchiata, a type of pine bark that is imported in from New Zealand. It works well in growing orchids and is relativity easy to purchase online.
Once the flower is set in its new container, it is ready to begin growing.
