Adam Sandler stars in and co-wrote the new Halloween film, “Hubie Halloween.” The film, streaming on Netflix, is set and shot in Salem, Massachusetts.

It’s the story of local community volunteer, Hubie Dubois, who is a man-child still living with his mother. The residents of Salem do not respect Hubie and constantly taunt and prank him.

“I was excited to be in a movie that that the whole day is involved in the whole thing is about Halloween and what and being scared and trick or treating and everything is, it was one of my favorite times ever making a movie," Sandler told NY1 in an interview with George Whipple.

Sandler says playing a character who is misunderstood is not new for him.

“Several of my characters over the years have caught some of us but this was just a man trying to do a lot of good things for the world and nobody, nobody really was having it.”

“Hubie Halloween” reunited Sander with some other former Saturday Night Live cast members including Tim Meadows, Ben Stiller, Kenan Thompson, Rob Schneider and Maya Rudolph, who dresses up as The Bride of Frankenstein in the film.

Rudolph says it was a Halloween dream come true.

“I've actually really genuinely wanted to dress up as the Bride of Frankenstein for a long time. I didn’t know how heavy her hair would be. But it was it was worth it," he said.

Sandler’s hopes for the film are goofiness and lots of laughs.

“I just want people to have a good time and connect with the just the goofiness of it all and trying to make you laugh. But mostly just trying to have a nice family fun, Goofy Movie.”
