Spectrum awarded a $40,000 grant to Hispanic Federation to fund the Spectrum Learning Hub at Bracetti Plaza, a NYCHA development.

The hub will allow the Hispanic Federation to enhance their community services by providing education, health, economic empowerment and computer literacy.

This will be done through workshops, training and additional programs for residents and community members.

The goal is to equip seniors, Latino families and community members with the tools needed in the digital world.

“This lab comes at a great moment when we’re beginning to emerge from the pandemic,” state Sen. Brian Kavanagh said. “We still have people who have to be careful about being out and about. But giving people from children to teenagers to older people and to seniors access to this technology is critical.”

“We all know that access to the internet is really fundamental, and it’s really critical to all of us in the 21st century and that’s why we want to thank Spectrum for making this a reality,” New York state Attorney General Letitia James added.

“Spectrum knows first-hand how important this access is and we are striving to help ensure that accessibility to connectivity is no longer a luxury, but the standard,” said Rodney Capel, Charter’s vice president of government affairs.

Charter is the parent company of Spectrum News and NY1.
