The head of New York's Republican Party endorsed Donald Trump on Thursday; however, the timing of his announcement two days after the primary decreases its influence.
Trump won his home state in a landslide Tuesday.
In a statement, New York State GOP Chair Ed Cox praised the Manhattan real estate mogul and said he reenergized the Republican Party.
Trump held a town hall in Midtown on Thursday morning, where he spoke out against North Carolina's "bathroom law" against transgender people.
"There's a big move to create new bathrooms. Problem with that — for transgender — first of all, I think that would be discriminatory in a certain way. It would be unbelievably expensive for businesses and the country. Leave it the way it is."
Meanwhile, top rival Ted Cruz is stumping in Frederick, Maryland ahead of the state's primary Tuesday.
He fired back at Trump for what he called his "politically correct" remarks.
"I'm the father of two little girls," the Texas senator said. "Here is basic common sense: grown, adult men — strangers — should not be alone in a bathroom with little girls."
Ohio Gov. John Kasich is holding a rally at Penn State.
Pennsylvania holds its primary next Tuesday.
