NEWARK, N.Y. — A former Newark High School teaching assistant will serve 50 years in prison after being convicted on federal charges for the production and possession of child porn, according to prosecutors.
They say Matthew Holland coerced minors to produce and send him porn over social media between 2016 and 2020. Federal prosecutors say Holland secretly recorded minors undressing at his Newark photography studio and at a YMCA where he worked.
Federal investigators say they found hundreds of images at his home.
Holland was previously arrested and extradited on charges from Virginia, police say. Authorities say investigators in Virginia traced a Snapchat account with dozens of sexually explicit conversations with minors back to Holland.
Prosecutors say when students he knew would decline his requests for more images, Holland would threaten to share pictures on the internet and include their identity.
